What is your professional background?
My bachelor's degree is in English with an emphasis in writing. I have been teaching English to children, youth and adults for the last 10 years while I was living in Los Angeles and Orange County. For several years, a large portion of my private teaching clientele were Kia and Hyundai Corporate employees who came abroad to the U.S. to work as resident engineers. I was able to help them improve their English skills to not only communicate better with their worldwide vendors, but also helped them feel more confident when interacting with their supervisors and coworkers.
Prior to joining the Reading Program, I was the director of a learning academy, a strategic development coordinator at a broadcasting company and a management analyst at the Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters. Lastly, for the last four years, I have been serving as a board member for the YWCA-Greater Los Angeles because of my passion for education, workforce development, empowerment of girls and women, and supporting the efforts to eliminate racism in our country.
