Two Great Authors Coming to Milpitas Library!

The Milpitas Library is pleased to welcome C.W. Gortner and Ken Yoder Reed!

Mr. Gortner will be visiting the Book Discussion Group to talk about his newest novel, MarleneHe is known for bringing famous historical women to life in his novels, from Lucrezia Borgia to Coco Chanel. In Marlene, he traces the life of film icon Marlene Dietrich from her childhood in WWI-era Germany to her record-breaking USO tour in WWII (see more about Marlene here). You don't have to be a regular member of the Book Discussion Group or to have read the book already to enjoy Mr. Gortner's talk. He has visited us on previous occasions and is always a delight! Come by on Wednesday, October 26th at 7:30pm. Books will be available for purchase for Mr. Gortner to sign.

Then, on Saturday, November 5th at 2pm, come back to meet another author of historical fiction, Ken Yoder Reed. Mr. Reed's newest novel, Both My Sons, is a fascinating account of Mennonite settlers in colonial Pennsylvania. Greenywalt has two sons - an older illegitimate one who is much like him and whom he loves dearly, and a younger legitimate son whose scientific mind is a mystery to him. Neither of his son's mothers can live in peace with the other. What is a man to do? The outbreak of the French and Indian War further complicates life, especially since Mennonites are pacifists. Mr. Reed was born to the Mennonite faith in Pennsylvania, and his knowledge and research shine as he brings a time, place, and people to life. In addition to a reading and book signing, enjoy musical entertainment and refreshments!

Super cool that the library is bringing in authors esp for Nanowrimo. And they are also open early starting next year..Keep the good news coming.
