Celebrating National Teacher Day

"One book, one pen, one child, and one TEACHER can change the world."  ~Malala Yousafzai

Teachers make a difference in the world, one student at a time. Movies often remind us of the great work that teachers do, like Woody Harrelson's character, an unorthodox but caring teacher in The Edge of Seventeen.

National Teacher Day falls on Tuesday, May 9th this year. Take some time to appreciate the special teachers in your life, and then watch a teacher flick from our top picks.

Great post, Diane! I loved the movie "To Be and To Have". There's also a great documentary called "The Hobart Shakespeareans" about a fantastic teacher in a poor multi-ethnic school in LA, who teaches his 5th graders to read and perform Shakespeare and other great literature. There's a great scene of a boy reading Huckleberry Finn - he has such a personal and emotional reaction to it as he's reading, he starts to cry. Check it out!
