Who is your hero?

What does Abraham Lincoln have in common with John Lennon?

It is the same thing that Martin Luther King Jr. has in common with Theodore Roosevelt.

Have you figured it out? OK, here is one more clue, it is also the same thing that John F. Kennedy and the Statue of Liberty have in common.

Yes, all of these individuals have had a biography written about them by Doreen Rappaport. These beautiful picture book biographies have long been favorites of mine. In this season of holidays when we celebrate our heroes during Black History Month and the Presidents' Holiday, it seemed a good time to share them. Reading biographies about heroes whose lives inspire us, can help us to lead better lives and to build character.

Then in March, when we celebrate Women's History month, you might also take a look at these inspiring biographies about Helen Keller and Eleanor Roosevelt.
