Meet Go Go Biblio

Santa Clara County Library District’s new outreach pool of electric vehicles to bring books, movies, fun and imagination from our libraries to the community.

Four shiny new Go Go Biblios are making their way to their new homes at Cupertino, Los Altos and Saratoga libraries, with a fourth that will visit Campbell, Milpitas, Morgan Hill and Gilroy.

What is it?
Electric powered motor vehicles that bring a miniature library with them wherever they go. The sides of the Go Go Biblio fold up to reveal book shelves that patrons can browse and select items from.

Go Go Biblio with side openHow big are they?
Each vehicle is 15-feet long. That’s compared to our two Bookmobiles, which are 22 and 28-feet long.

What is the vehicle’s range on one charge? How about top speed?
The Go Go Biblios can travel up to 25-30 miles on a single charge, with a maximum speed of 30 mph.

How many books/other items fit in a vehicle?
They can hold approximately 200 books or other items
Why isn’t every SCCLD library getting one?
We certainly hope that eventually all of our libraries will have their own Go Go Biblios. We are so fortunate to have four Go Go Biblios through the generosity of the Friends of the Cupertino Library, Los Altos Library Endowment, Friends of the Saratoga Libraries and funding through the Santa Clara County Library District.
Where can I go to see a Go Go Biblio?
At Cupertino, Los Altos and Saratoga libraries, where theirs will be garaged, or at events across the County as they are scheduled. Keep an eye on the Facebook pages for SCCLD and your local library.

Can Go Go Biblio come to (Cupertino) schools during the Reading Week program and can students check out books?

Will the go go biblio come to schools? CUSD has library accounts for every child, but not all children can get to the library.

I'd like to talk with someone about the possibility of having the Go Go Biblio vehicle incorporate a Gavilan College site visit, or perhaps to the Morgan Hill site.

Thank you for contacting us and for the additional details you provided in our email exchange. We anticipate using the Go Go Biblios for outreach within our local communities. They can easily visit a farmers market, schools, senior centers, various clubs we may meet with, etc. If you have a community event that is open to the public and non-commercial, please let us know. The Go Go Biblios will not be used for our normal bookmobile route since our bookmobiles can carry more materials and travel much farther distances. We always appreciate hearing from our patrons and welcome all inquiries and suggestions.

These look very cool! What events will the new Go Go Biblio vehicles be featured at? Can event holders (such as community blood drive, seminars, etc.) request a Go Go Biblio to attend? Will they be part of the Bookmobile routes? Thanks.
