Here are some highlights from each team member.
The Best Music of 2017

Goodnight Rhonda Lee by Nicole Atkins

Nicole Atkins' tremendous vocal talent is paired with equally excellent songwriting and production. Atkins takes a retro, almost Dusty Springfield like, approach to powerfully personal, emotional material and the resulting combustion is captured on my favorite album of 2017. -Don

4 Eva is a Mighty Long Time by Big K.R.I.T.

Big K.R.I.T. has had the somewhat unfortunate distinction of releasing incredible mixtapes and good studio albums. His latest studio effort changes all that, however. This double disc album with both a plethora of features from hip-hop luminaries and deeply personal solo tracks represents contemporary southern hip-hop at its finest. - d.g

Freedom Highway by Rhiannon Giddens

A living civil rights history lesson, with lyrics drawn from slave narratives and still relevant in the Black Lives Matter era. Giddens is an American treasure. - Jeff

Melodrama by Lorde

Lorde ups her game on her second album. She has the uncanny ability to make music that appeals to a broad group of people while still managing to remain firmly entrenched in the ways and concerns of her peers. Standout tracks include: Homemade Dynamite, Hard Feelings/Loveless, Sober II (Melodrama), Writer in the Dark, and Supercut. - Anne

Made in LA by Lucky Diaz and the Family Jam Band

There's something to love about LA and this album highlights all the good stuff in The City of Angels. Featuring such kiddie rock greats as Andrew and Polly, Frances England, and Mista Cookie Jar, the latest album from Lucky Diaz and Family is pure lyrical joy, with a heavy dose of toe-tapping fun. My favorites include: Paletero Man, Traffic, Los Niños, Made In LA, Jelly, and Fiesta De La Brea. - Tamara

The Big Sick

A unique & sweet love story. -RL

Harold and Lillian: A Hollywood Love Story

A fascinating documentary of the storyboard artist who drew the composition of some of the movie's most iconic shots and a love story of an unlikely couple.-Debra

Logan

A moving character study in the guise of a superhero movie. Great stuff. -vs

Queen of Katwe

This real-life story is about a young girl in Africa who discovers the game of chess. She develops a passion for the game and a determination to become a master at it. This against-all-odds story is a delightful film, and truly inspirational. I also loved the credits at the end that showed the actors standing next to the real life person they played, charming. -Diane

Your Name

A friend of mine introduced this movie to me and I'm so glad she did; what starts off as a somewhat regular anime premise evolves into an excellently told scifi story. -Kay
