Books! Libros! Celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month

National Hispanic Heritage Month

Every year from September 15th to October 15th, the United States of America observes National Hispanic Heritage Month. It celebrates the histories, cultures and contributions of Latino /Hispanic Americans whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central and South America.

The Santa Clara County Library District joins The Library of Congress, The Smithsonian Institute and other agencies in paying tribute to the generations of Hispanic Americans who enriched our nation and society.

The following book lists include award winning, influential Latino authors whose written word has inspired many readers. These Hispanic American authors have written about duality, assimilation, tradition and events. At the center of every story contained on these lists are characters with a strong sense of authenticity, an imperative criterion for the selection of these books.
