Seeking Election Officers for November 8 ElectionSANTA CLARA COUNTY, CALIF. -- With just six weeks left until Election Day, the Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters’ Office is looking for nearly 5,000 Election Officers to serve at 836 polling places throughout the County.

“Being an Election Officer on November 8 is a great way to support democracy and serve your community," said Registrar of Voters Shannon Bushey. Bushey added that bilingual election officers are especially needed, as federal and state laws mandate that certain polling places be staffed with persons who are fluent in the languages of Chinese, Spanish, Tagalog, Vietnamese, Japanese, Korean, Hindi or Khmer.

Eligible residents who would like to participate in the democratic process are encouraged to contact the Registrar of Voters’ Office immediately. Election Officers must be citizens who are registered to vote, legal permanent residents, or high school students aged 16 years or older with a minimum GPA of 2.5. Experience is not necessary, as all training is provided.

Training begins this Saturday, September 24. Media outlets that would like to capture footage of Election Officer recruitment or training should contact the Registrar of Voters’ Office at (408) 282-3008.
