CQ-carousel-(1).jpgCQ Press Congress Collection is a research and reference tool providing analysis of the United States Congress; its history, personalities, current developments; and legislation. CQ Press Congress Collection can be found on our website in the Research section under Legal & Government.

CQ Press Congress Collection is organized into four sections:

  • Floor Votes allows you to browse, search and map votes.  It provides a description of the vote along with the outcome, and includes links to the roll call vote, the full text of the legislation, and a state delegation vote map.

  • Browse Member Profiles by name, congress, year, or even member characteristics, such as party, religion or occupation.  Profiles include biographical, political, and electoral information about every member of Congress since the 79th Congress.

  • Analyze Data – This section allows you to analyze member votes in a number of ways. 

    • Compare how one member voted against another member, or see how often a member followed the party line or others in their state delegation in voting.

    •  Interest Group Ratings show support scores assigned by interest groups, such as the American Civil Liberties Union or the American Conservative Union.

    • Voting Scores gives you CQ Roll Calls's Voting Scores and Advanced CQ Key Vote Analysis offers member voting patterns on key votes.

  • How Congress Works is a congressional reference section which includes an encyclopedia, and a Congressional dictionary.
