SCCLD Month of the Young Child Events – April 2016

April is a month of celebration focused on early literacy, children and books. SCCLD libraries have a wonderful variety of programs all month long.

Ready to Read Fridays at 1 p.m. 

A series of early literacy stories and activities for kids ages 0-5 and their grown-ups. Events begin at 1:00 p.m. with each day focused on a different early literacy practice.

Bilingual (Spanish and English) Storytime every Thursday at 4:00 p.m.

Cupertino

Stories for families every Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m.

Gilroy 

Spanish Storytime programs every Wednesday in April at 4:00 p.m.

Dia Celebration Party: Saturday, April 30th at 12:00 p.m.

Los Altos 

Inclusive Sensory Storytime: Friday, April 15th at 2:00 p.m.

Sensory storytime is an interactive and educational program that can be enjoyed by all children, but is especially designed for children with sensory integration challenges.

Music, Magic, and Fun with Peter Apel: Friday, April 22nd at 10:30 a.m.

Preschool Storytime with a Firefighter: Wednesday, April 27th at 11:00 a.m.

Celebrate month of the young child with a special visit from Fire Chief Kehmna. Learn about fire safety and make a special firefighter craft to take home. 

Milpitas 

Bay Area Bike Mobile: Saturday, April 9th at 1:00 p.m.

The Bay Area Bike Mobile van will be located in the drop-off parking area in front of the library to help repair children’s bikes. Space is limited.  First come, first serve. 

Family Movie Matinee: Saturday, April 9th at 2:00 p.m.

Join us for our Family Movie Matinee.  We will be enjoying “Toy Story” in the Activity Room.

Day of the Child/Day of the Book (El día de los niños/El día de los libros): Saturday, April 30th AT MILPITAS LIBRARY 

Circle of Smiles - A gravity defying juggling show at 11:00 a.m. 

Friends of the Milpitas Library Kid's Book Sale: 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. 

The Friends of the Milpitas Library special one-day book sale featuring children’s materials.

Rhythm, Rattle & Rock: Every Friday in April at 4:00 p.m. 

A lively and noisy half hour of songs, dance, instruments, and fun. Come rattle a shaker, clap your hands, wave a scarf, and have a ball!

Saratoga

Kindness and Kids Storytime: Monday, April 11th at 2:30 p.m.

A special storytime featuring kindness stories and fun for toddlers/preschoolers and their grown-ups in the Orchard Room.

Woodland

Sing Along Saturday: Saturday, April 9th at 1:00 p.m.

A special music performance by Sean Mendelson. Families of young child children are invited to sing, dance, and have fun together at the library.
