Music Therapy

Feeling a little down or stressed? Listening to music is a great way to adjust your mood and get you back on track. And the library is just the place to find the resources you need, whether it be by downloading or streaming music for free from SCCLD's Freegal service or app, or by choosing some great CDs from the library's richly diverse collections.

Freegal offers 5 free downloads per week and unlimited streaming, and you can get to it from our Home page by clicking Browse and choosing Music from the dropdown menu. (Or you can click here.) Find the Freegal information and follow the tutorial on the right side of the resulting page. All you need is your library card  for computer access, or you can download the Freegal app for free on Android or iOS devices. Have a blast creating your own playlists from the over 8 million songs from 28,000+ labels available through Freegal!

You can also browse SCCLD's CD collection. Here are some suggestions I've put together for my own special brand of music therapy to help me recenter. Have fun picking out what works best for you!
The Best of Simon and Garfunkel Go straight to "The 59th St. Bridge Song (feelin' groovy)" for the most immediate feel-good results.
Mellow Yellow "Mellow Yellow" is the one to target here.
Kenny Rankin Silver Morning So many good ones on here, but try "Haven't We Met" first.
A Foreign Affair "Antigua" will take you to a tropical destination.
5th Dimension "Up, Up and Away" whisks you away into The Fifth Dimension!
Grazing in the Grass I guarantee that "Grazing in the Grass" will put you in the right picnic mood.
