Download the New cloudLibrary App Today!

cloudLibrary, which is one of our eBook vendors, offers fiction, non-fiction, bestsellers, and many genres in the palm of your hand that may not be available from our primary eBook vendor OverDrive. OverDrive offers even more items in these genres.

cloudLibrary has just released a new app for iOS and Android devices that all Santa Clara County Library patrons can enjoy.  The new app provides enhanced features and offers a completely redesigned interface. The company’s objective is to provide users with a better borrowing experience and to highlight new functionality within the app.

The cloudLibrary app is available for free through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store or by visiting www.yourcloudlibrary.com.  New users will need to download version 4.1 of the app and follow the prompts and simply sign in using their library card number and PIN. Existing users may need to upgrade to version 4.1 if they haven't already done so, which was released on January 22, 2019. It is also advised to sign out and sign back in in order to ensure that the new user interface is displaying correctly.

The app will also work on Kindle Fire 4th generation and up devices, newer Nook Tablets (Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook and up), as well as newer Chromebooks where you are able to download Android apps from the main Google Play Store.
  1. From the Home page menu within the app you have access to a copy of your library barcode, your current checkouts, and library notifications. You can also personalize your information by adding a nickname, and getting creative with genre based avatars and custom color themes.
  2. Add more than one library user to the app and switch between accounts with ease. From the Home screen, tap on View Cards > +Add New to add additional family members with different card numbers.
  3. Keep a list of “save for later” titles that are of interest to you.
  4. Keep a history of what you’ve checked out and mark it as read. In this way you can remember which books you’ve already enjoyed. The section within the app where you access your reading history is under My Books > Receipts.
  5. Renew or return eBook titles early.
  6. Personalize your reading preferences including categories and genres you want to view on an ongoing basis. Under Browse > Favorites you can customize your preferences.
