Best Books of 2015

It's that time of year, when the likes of Amazon, Entertainment Weekly, Publisher's Weekly, and pretty much everyone else puts together their best of the year lists. Though the lists vary, there are some clear winners.

For fiction, the title with the most mentions is Hanya Yanagahira's A Little Lifefollowed closely by Fates and Furies by Lauren Groff (which also happens to have one of the best covers of the year). I haven't read either of them, so that's two more for my TBR (to-be-read) pile!

The two top nonfiction titles, tying with 9 mentions apiece, are the National Book Award-winning Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates and H is for Hawk by Helen MacDonald.

With all of these different lists, how does one quickly and easily find which books were the best? Once again, it's the fabulous folks at earlyword.com to the rescue! They gather all of the lists as they come out and collate them into spreadsheets for easy reference. I used those lists to create our Best Fiction 2015 and Best Nonfiction 2015 booklists. Our lists are limited to 32 items, so if you're interested in the full lists, go to earlyword.com. On the right-hand side of their site, scroll down until you find the heading Best Books 2015.

I know these lists will keep me busy far into 2016. Happy reading!
