Teen poets of Santa Clara County take notice!Teen Poetry Contest 2013

CATEGORIES:

The contest is open to teens Grades 6 thru 12. One winner from each library will be chosen in the following two categories:

  • Middle School (Grades 6-8)
  • High School (Grades 9-12)

GUIDELINES:

  1. Submit up to three original poems that are no longer than 30 lines.
  2. All poems must be printed neatly or typed. (Make sure it is legible.)
  3. Poems may be submitted with an entry form to your local SCCLD Library Information Desk or online by May 1st, 2014.
  4. Submitted poems will not be returned.
  5. Poems will be judged by grade level, original content, style, vocabulary, and creative expression.
  6. If your poem is selected as a winner, a permission form will be required to post the winning poem on our website or in print.

PRIZES:

  • Winners will receive a $50.00 gift card
  • The winning poem will be entered into a national contest held by VOYA (Voice of Youth Advocates) in December and possibly be published nationally.
  • Winners will be contacted by phone or email by May 31st, 2014.

 


Two Ways to Enter:

  1. Attach a completed Entry Form to your poem and submit to the Information Desk at your local SCCLD Library.

  2. Upload your poem as a Word doc. or PDF using the form below. (If submitting more than one poem, please submit each entry separately.)
