American Song (e-music)

An historical music database that allows people to hear and feel the music from America's past. The database contains songs in a diverse range of genres by and about American Indians, miners, immigrants, slaves, children, pioneers, and cowboys. Included in the database are the songs of Civil Rights, political campaigns, Prohibition, the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, anti-war protests, and more.

Classical Music Library (e-music)

Stream classical music recordings to your home computer or smart phone. Coverage includes music written from the earliest times to the present, including many contemporary composers. Repertoire ranges from vocal and choral music, to chamber, orchestral, solo instrumental, and opera.

Contemporary World Music (e-music)

This streaming music database includes music from around the world including genres such as Balkanic jazz, fado, African film, Arab swing, Indian classical, flamenco, Bollywood, klezmer, zydeco, gospel, gagaku, worldbeat, and many more.

Film and Television Literature Index with Full Text

A comprehensive database covering television and film. Subject coverage includes reviews, film and television theory, preservation and restoration, writing, production, cinematography, and technical aspects.

Freegal Music (e-music)

Freegal is a downloadable music service which provides access to the catalog of artists in Sony Music Entertainment including Independent Online Distribution Alliance. Library cardholders can download three songs a week using their barcode and PIN. Freegal works with any MP3 device, including iPods. Helpful tips before you get started.

Jazz Music Library (e-music)

A collection of jazz music sound files including tracks from some prominent groups and artists. You'll find Chicago-style jazz, New Orleans jazz, 1920s jazz, big bands and solo piano jazz, boogie-woogie, ragtime, rhythm and blues, jazz blues, Bossa nova, acid jazz, free jazz, orchestral jazz, scat, smooth jazz, fusion, Latin jazz and more.

Oxford Music Online

A gateway offering users the ability to access and cross-search multiple music reference resources in one location. Contains the Grove Music Online, as well as The Oxford Dictionary of Music, and The Oxford Companion to Music.

Technical Note: Through a partnership with Sibelius notation software, over 500 of Grove's musical examples are now available in sound as well as notated examples. To listen, a small software plug-in called Scorch is required. Scorch is not yet loaded on public workstations in the library and can only be loaded by an administrator.

Smithsonian Global Sound for Libraries (e-music)

This streaming music database is a virtual encyclopedia of world musical and aural traditions. The collection provides educators, students, and interested listeners with an online resource that supports the creation, continuity, and preservation of diverse musical forms.
