The Woodland Branch Tweens Read Book Club had its first meeting last week! Not only did we talk about the book (The London Eye Mystery) but we also performed a Name Juggle, did a Bristish to American English word match, and snacked on salt and vinegar crisps (potato chips) along with other goodies. As part of the ongoing celebration of the 60th anniversary of Los Altos, the Los Altos History Museum will be hosting a Downtown Walking Tour this Sunday, September 30 from 4-7 p.m. Enjoy costumed docents interpreting the town's notable historical figures, a vintage car exhibit, and the Wells Fargo stagecoach. If you've been to the Woodland Library in the past few weeks, you might have noticed a new addition to the parking lot area. A full-scale replica of Auguste Rodin's The Thinker was recently donated to the city of Los Altos, which decided to put the sculpture on display next to the Woodland Branch Library. Baby Lapsit will start up again on Friday, September 21st at 11:00 am. Our last meeting will be Friday, November 16th. It is a 20-minute participation storytime for non-walking babies accompanied by a parent or caregiver and includes stories, action rhymes and songs. Newborns to one-year-olds (non-walkers) love to watch animals and pictures of babies on the books read by one of our children's librarians . . . more »

It's been nearly nine months since Woodland's Baby Lapsit Storytime began, which means that it's time for a new storytime! Toddler Storytime will begin at Woodland on Thursday, September 13th, starting at 11:15am. Designed for walking 1 and 2 year-olds to share stories, songs, rhymes, and other activities with their favorite caregivers, this storytime provides the next level for those graduating from Baby Lapsit. 2012 marks the 60th anniversary of the incorporation of Los Altos! The Los Altos History Museum has taken this opportunity to explore their photo archives.
