The annual Speaking Volumes series, brought to you by the Los Altos Library Endowment (LALE), has so far featured two speakers who later went on to win Pulitzer Prizes. The speaker for 2009, T.J. Stiles, won the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Biography for his book The First Tycoon: the Epic Life of Cornelius Vanderbilt. Then last year's speaker, Stanford professor Adam Johnson (pictured at left), took home this year's Pulitzer Prize for Fiction with The Orphan Master's Son. Coincidence? Or is it due to the fact that LALE picks great speakers? I'm voting for the latter. Don't miss the latest installment of the Speaking Volumes series, tonight at 7:30 in the Los Altos Library Program Room!
