A sari is a traditional piece of clothing worn by Indian women. The staff at the Saratoga Library had the opportunity to wear their very own sari during this year's Diwali Storytime which took place on November 5. During this exciting program, the library staff shared traditional Indian tales and songs with participants to celebrate this holiday.
Diwali (also known as the festival of lights) is an official holiday in Indian and it is celebrated with great food, family, and of course lights!
If you missed this year's Diwali program, you can still enjoy some great books from the library that discuss Diwali!

Aside from these books, the National Film Board of Canada has made a great short film for children called Lights for Gita by Michel Vo based upon the book Lights for Gita by Rachna Gilmore.
Happy Diwali!
