This week, all over the Santa Clara Library District, we are celebrating and honoring a very special group of people – our Friends of the Library. These dedicated volunteers are invaluable advocates and supporters of the library. Saratoga’s Community Librarian, Gayathri Kanth, says of the Library’s Friends group, “Their support helps us with purchasing more collections, and present a huge variety of programs to the community…But to me, their value is beyond raising funds for the library. They are also true advocates of the library, and help convey the library story to the community.”
The Friends of the Saratoga Library are responsible for running the successful Book-Go-Round, a used bookstore located on the corner of Oak Street and Saratoga-Los Gatos Road. Open every day from noon to 5 p.m., except Saturday when it opens two hours earlier, the Book-Go-Round is staffed by 165 volunteers and receives hundreds of books a week as donations.
