Alice Herz-Sommer is the oldest known Holocaust survivor. At 109 years old, she lives in London and still plays the piano daily. She is a trained classical pianist and had begun giving concerts in her hometown of Prague, when the Germans took over the city and she was taken, with her husband and six-year old son to Theresienstadt concentration camp. There, she played over 100 concerts. Her husband did not survive the war, but she and her son emigrated to Israel and later to London. Her son, an accomplished cellist and conductor died prematurely. How has she remained so incredibly optimistic and happy? She shares her secret in A Century of Wisdom: lessons from the life of Alice Herz-Sommer, the world's oldest living holocaust survivor. You can also read about her amazing life in Alice's Piano.
