Did you know that Ezra Jack Keats was born Jacob Ezra Katz?
The Snowy Day and the Art of Ezra Jack Keats is the first major exhibition to pay tribute to the award-winning author and illustrator of such beloved books as Whistle for Willie and The Snowy Day. It is currently at the Jewish Contemporary Museum in San Francisco through February 24, 2013.
You can get free passes to this exhibit with the Santa Clara County Library District's Discover and Go program.
Keats's work was inspired by Asian art and haiku poetry, and he strove for simplicity in his texts. By the end of his life he had illustrated over eighty books, most of them for children. This exhibition features original works, from preliminary sketches to final paintings and collages.
