Get involved and share the gift of reading.

According to the National Center for Education Statistics, 16% of adults (ages 16 and over) in  Santa Clara County lack basic literacy skills*.  However, you can make a difference by helping adults improve their basic reading, writing and life skills.

Someone like you is helping another person unlock the door to greater opportunity at your local library, and you can too! There is no previous experience necessary. We will provide you with materials and support.

Thinking about becoming a tutor? Then, sign up to attend a one-hour orientation to receive more information:

Thursday, October 11
10:00-11:00 or 2:00-3:00

Just hear what other tutors have to say...

"Watching the growth of my learners and their newfound confidence is a priceless experience and inspires me to do my best." -Ursula, volunteer tutor

"Tutoring is an opportunity to build a special connection with someone while helping to meet his or her personal goals. The smallest of steps brings gratification for both the student and the tutor." -Candy, volunteer tutor
