Sewing Demonstration at Cupertino Library

Can you imagine a world without sewing? I can’t. First of all, think how poorly everyone would be dressed. This skill, first practiced in prehistoric times, has evolved with us and kept humankind well-clad and warm for millennia all over the world. Sewing has also allowed us to beautify our homes and live more comfortably.

Not only has sewing improved home life through human history, it provided the world with sails for sailing ships, and in a more modern context, with hot air balloons and parachutes.  Entire world industries would disappear if sewing did not exist. There would be no such thing as a stylish winter coat, or a beautiful bed quilt and the world would be poorer for it.

September is National Sewing Month, and in honor of this useful skill, Marsha Burdick will hold a sewing demonstration in the Library Story Room on Saturday, September 21st Marsha will begin working at noon and will continue the basic steps of constructing a new quilt until four pm.  Feel free to drop in and watch her progress and chat about sewing and quilting at any time between noon and 4 pm this coming Saturday.
