CNPS Planting and Maintaining a Native Meadow At Cupertino Community Hall

It's hard to resist the lure of a lush green lawn. A garden without a lawn almost puzzles Americans since we've been watering, fertilizing and mowing the grass for generations. But this bright green attraction is, ironically, not very “green” in the ecological sense.  Why not declare your independence from the lawn mower, the fertilizer sack and the high water bills this summer and give your garden a horticultural makeover?

Alexandra von Feldt of the California Native Plant Society will be at Cupertino Community Hall
on Thursday, July 11th  at 7:00 pm to discuss what sorts of native plants would work well for your garden and you.  Many people have already saved time and money by converting their lawns to a more sustainable meadow of native plants and grasses.    You’ll save time and money through caring for hardy, low-water consumption native plants. You'll also have the pleasure of gardening closer to the way nature intended for our climate and rainfall.

Alex has been a native plant gardener for six years. Her garden has been featured on the Going Native Garden Tour.
