"Mom You Don't Understand!" Speaking the Language of 21st Century Teens With Mike Lysaght
The teen years are a notoriously difficult time of life for both teens and their parents. For parents who value a loving, positive relationship with their teen sons and daughters, but feel that whatever they say comes out the wrong way and leads to arguments, miscommunication can be one of the biggest tensions for themselves and their teens. Although they are almost adults, teens don’t always process information the same way their parents do.
Neither teens nor parents nor other family members can be happy when being at home seems like a battleground. Or when talks feel like cross-examination and finish as shouting matches.
Luckily, Mike Lysaght can help parents with ways to state what they truly mean, and how to ask questions in a way that encourages their son or daughter to confide what’s truly on their minds. Join Mike in the Library Story Room at Cupertino Library on Wednesday June 26th at 7:00 pm.
Mike Lysaght is a Marriage and Family Therapist Intern, offering teen and family counseling services under the supervision of Amy Powell, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFC42915).
