Through the use of signs, a parent and a child can exchange wants, needs and emotions; communicating with their child at a very early age. Learning American Sign Language enhances the acquisition of speech and lanuages as the child develops putting spoken words to their sign vocabulary.

The Cupertino Library is offering a three week series of Parent and Baby American Sign Language classes.  June 4th, 11th and 18th;  2:00 pm in the Children's Storyroom

  • Each class will include instruction, along with practice and playtime.
  • Babies 0-24 months only. Caregiver and child only, no older siblings.
  • Registration is required at the Cupertino Library Children's Reference Desk

Instructor: Alana J. Goodman is a nationally certified interpreter and transliterator for the Deaf and has been for over 15 years. She is also a mother of a 2 and 4 year old. She is passionate about American Sign Language as a means of enhancing and facilitating communication between parents and children.

This program is brought to you by the Deaf Services of Palo Alto and supported by The Friends of the Cupertino Library. We thank them for their generous support!
