Now in it’s 14th year, TRW is rolling strong in its crusade to encourage teenagers to visit local libraries and read just for the fun of it. This year’s theme is, It Came from the Library and sports a cool slime-splattered logo, compliments of YALSA(Young Adult Library Services Association).
But what is TRW all about? Oftentimes faced with jam-packed schedules; non-stop studying and massive school assignments, teens tend to forget just how important it is to take time to read for their own pleasure. Research has proven teens who read for enjoyment produce higher test scores and are better prepared for both college and the workplace.
During Teen Read Week, libraries throughout the world aim to inspire teens to pick up a book, magazine, comic, even audiobooks, and just enjoy the simple pleasure of reading.
This year, the Santa Clara County Library District is holding an online voting competition to determine the TEENS’ TOP TEN books of 2012. Fill out an online ballot and automatically be entered into the Teen Read Week prize drawing:
