What was here before we called it Silicon Valley? What came before Apple Computers and Hewlett-Packard? Before technology, the Santa Clara Valley was once filled with acres of fruit orchards.

Author and Saratoga-native Tim Stanley will discuss his book The Last of the Prune-Pickers: A Pre-Silicon Valley Story at Cupertino Community Hall on September 10th at 7 pm. Mr. Stanley’s engaging presentation will explore the agricultural history of the area, focusing on the orchards that defined the region and led to its being called the “Garden of the World.” Join us for an interesting look into the area’s agricultural past in this 45-minute talk to be followed by a question and answer session.
