The results are in! The Reading Program just completed its annual number-crunching for 2012-2013. The compiled data goes to the California Library Literacy Services agency for incorporation into the annual report to the legislature on its state-wide literacy campaign. We are very excited to report some great outcomes for students and tutors.
Here are highlights from the fiscal year:
In all, volunteers donated over 8,052 hours of their time to teach new concepts to students, facilitate small-group conversations for beginning speakers, assist participants with computer literacy needs, and prepare weekly lessons. Reading Program volunteers are especially amazing!
It was a big year for goals, with Reading Program students setting 891 and meeting 326 goals during the year. Every goal—big or little—is proudly documented by volunteers and entered into the database by staff. That’s a lot of goals to be counted. Here are some of the outstanding accomplishments:
