Solar Activity and Other Stellar Phenomena

July 24, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. -- Free -- Campbell Library

Astrophysicist, Kevin Manning is returning to the Campbell Library this year, back by popular demand.

Award-winning astrophysicist, national lecturer and former consultant with NASA, Kevin Manning expertly guides young and old on an educational and entertaining exploration of the universe.

Last year, he presented the astronomy program, Size and Scale of the Universe, which drew over eighty children, teens, and adults.

This year, he will present the program Solar Activity and Other Stellar Phenomena.  The Sun is 93 million miles from Earth, and it provides enough heat and light to sustain life as we know it.   During the first hour, he will introduce the life cycle of the sun as well as the hidden intricacies of solar activities.

Following the indoor formal presentation, he will bring the audience outside to the library’s parking lot to view celestial wonders in the night sky, such as distant stars, the rings of Saturn, craters on the Moon, etc., weather permitting!

All ages welcome!

This event will take place on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 in the Community Room on the lower level of the Campbell Library. The presentation will begin at 7:00 p.m.

Attending the event is free.
