Shiver down your spine...

Lately these sweltering days have me wishing for the end of summer. I can’t wait for fall, my favorite time of the year. There’s nothing like curling up on a cold brisk evening and reading a thriller or watching a spooky movie. Since I can’t control the weather, here are some titles that are designed to send a shiver down your spine…

Heart Shaped Box – Joe Hill

In Heart Shaped Box, Jude Coyne an aging rocker has seen and done everything. His lurid hobby is collecting gruesome memorabilia, but his latest online purchase, a dead man’s suit with ghost included, proves to be more than he can handle.

I am Legend – Richard Matheson

This spooky short story was turned into a feature film. In both, a virus attacks humans turning them into vampires and one man toils in solitude to search for a cure. As a book lover, I’d have to say the short story surpasses the film and yet they’re different enough that they are mutually enjoyable. Check out both to see which vampire apocalypse you prefer.

The Descent

The Descent

In "The Descent" a group of spelunking loving gals  explore previously unmapped caves. Quickly, they realize they’re not the only ones down there. Combine all your worst fears: trapped underground, lost with no way out, mutiny amongst your group, hunted by monsters and you’ve got Descent.

A Good and Happy Child

A Good and Happy Child

A good and happy child – Justin Evans

When George Davies’ son is born, issues come to light that drive him to a therapist. There he thinks he’s going to revisit the trauma of his father’s early and mysterious death. Instead, he discovers his father died from complications after performing an exorcism. As he remembers the chaos that ensued in his and his mother’s life, George must decide whether it was grief that tore their family apart or something more sinister.
