Hands on A Hard Body

While the musical based on this documentary did not actually win any of the three Tony Awards it was nominated for, I had to include this wonderful, suspenseful film on the list of great tie-ins.

At a Nissan dealership in Longview, Texas, 24 people are gathered around a brand new "Hard Body" pickup truck. In this test of human endurance, whoever can stand upright the longest with his or her hand on the truck, will win the truck. This film captures the lunacy, laughter, heartbreak, and deprivation of the contestants, and examines the financial, social, and competitive reasons why these contestants put themselves through this hell.
