Focus on Food

Focus on Food logoFOOD is a topic of great interest to just about everyone.  For this reason, SCCLD has put together an excellent series of programs called Focus on Food.   We want people to see that the library is a great place to get reliable and up-to-date information about healthy cooking and eating, the locavore movement, sustainable agriculture and many other related topics.

Focus on Food, which runs from February through May of 2013, will feature live food demonstrations, author discussions, hands-on food preparation, health and wellness talks, as well as programs about various aspects of farming / growing food.  Presenters include a wide variety of chefs (including celebrity chef and television personality, Martin Yan), authors / food writers, plus healthy eating and other types of food specialists from around the greater Bay area. Along with the food-focused programs, our libraries will also be highlighting our top-rated collection of materials, including cookbooks, food magazines & DVDs, and a wide variety of non-fiction books for “foodies” of all ages.

See our brochure for a complete schedule of Focus on Food programs.

Great Event

Martin Yan is a master story teller and knows how to keep his audience engaged. I had a delightful time watching him in action at the Milpitas library. He inspired me to enough to try some of the reciepes in his book.

Thank you for organizing this event and hope to see more of similar things at the library.

Culinary Dude at Gilroy

What a great event! This guy is knowledgeable and a very good presenter. We ate what we cooked in a short one hour session!
