Now, let’s meet the members who make up the heart and soul of the SCCLD’s Health & Fitness Team:
I am a lifelong lover of healthy and delicious food. I have my BS in Nutrition and Food Science so I have a lot of knowledge on the subject, and I enjoy helping others find reliable and scientifically-based nutrition and health information. I love to cook and try new and adventurous flavors. I am a huge fan of Zumba and dance, and love to work-up an appetite before enjoying a home-cooked meal.
I like hiking and I enjoy nature scenery. l especially love sharing health information to help others live healthy lives.
I’ve been an avid daily walker for more than 20 years. There are definite health benefits, of course (lower blood pressure and cholesterol; decreased risk of diabetes, osteoporosis and arthritis; improved overall strength and fitness, etc.). There is also the fact that walking is safe, simple and it doesn't require a lot of practice or a gym membership. All of these have been proven, but for me the best thing is that walking every day gets me outside – I can feel the breeze, see the ocean, or just enjoy the flowers in my own neighborhood. Walking is as good for your mind and spirit as it is for your body! Health-wise, I’m also interested in healthy cooking, particularly in finding / creating vegetarian recipes that are good for you, but good-tasting too!
My interests include healthy eating (have been a vegetarian since 2000), bicycling, walking and working out at the gym 3 times a week.
My name is Robyn and I am a clerk at the Campbell library. I am passionate about yoga, nutrition, and natural health. I have just registered for my first 5K this summer, so I will be working on jogging and running over the coming months. I firmly believe that good health can be achieved by making smart choices about our diets and our lives. There are so many simple techniques that everyone can do throughout their day to keep their bodies strong and their minds stress free. I look forward to helping you make use of the library’s resources and discover the best methods for your lifestyle.
I’ve been on-the-go and playing sports since the age of 6 and, through my own experiences, I’ve learned the importance of staying healthy, both mentally and physically. I am a firm believer that listening to your own body will never lead you astray. My interests include: jogging, weight training, yoga, CrossFit, healthy dieting, skiing, surfing, swimming and interval training.
