Knit one, purl two

 woman knittingKnittiers in Silicon Valley are coming down from the excitement of Stitches West, a knitting and crochet expo held at the Santa Clara Convention Center the last weekend in February, featuring classes, speakers, fashion shows--and lots and lots of yarn!  While the library system doesn't have any yarn to offer, we do have lots of books, old and new, to inspire knitters, and to help them use the yarn they just bought.  Here are a few we added this last year that I really liked.

 

 

Knit, Swirl! Knit, Swirl!

 

One of my favorites is Knit Swirl, by Sandra McIver, who has created a whole new silhouette.  While there are 18 patterns in the book, they all create much the same profile.  Lots and lots of knitting, and a beautiful, unique garments at the end.

 

 

Of course, I may have to find time to make a few  

Super-scary MochimochiSuper-scary Mochimochi.  My daughter saw the book and  pointed out the ones that she especially likes.  I'm not sure that I'm up for knitting the zombi
