There were three types of E-ink readers that Sony made available originally:

  • The Sony Reader Pocket Edition offers you the ability to resize text and is able to hold up to 1,200 books.The battery stays charged for two weeks, and the device supports multiple formats including EPUB, PDFs, Word and MP3.
  • The Sony Reader Touch Edition includes touch screen navigation and holds up to 50,000 books. The battery stays charged for two weeks, and the device supports multiple formats including EPUB, PDFs, Word and MP3.
  • The Sony Reader Daily Edition is optimized for newspapers. It includes touch screen navigation and free 3G wireless access. The battery stays charged for 22 days and holds up to 50,000 books. The device supports multiple formats including EPUB, PDFs, Word and MP3.
