Kazu Kibuishi: The Artist Behind the New Harry Potter Covers

To mark the occasion of the Harry Potter series' 15th Anniversary, Scholastic created new covers for the books, replacing the original covers by Mary Grandpre.  The artist they chose was graphic novel author/illustrator Kazu Kibuishi.

Kazu Kibuishi

Kibuishi was born in Japan and came to the USA as a child with his mother.

As an adult, he wowed readers with his work on the graphic novel series Flight and Amulet.  His art shows influences from both Japanese and American styles of illustration. Some people have compared him to the great animator Hayao Miyazaki.

The Harry Potter assignment has brought his work to a whole new audience of fans.
