Honoring Our Vets

U.S. Flag with Medal

We celebrate Veterans Day on November 11 to recognize and thank the courageous men and women who have served in the armed forces, defending the freedoms and rights of our nation. For those of us who haven’t served, it’s also a day when we reflect on what it means to serve in the armed forces and the burdens that members of the military and their families bear on our behalf. These individuals travel far from home, face dangerous and uncertain conditions, and put their lives on the line to protect the freedom and safety of those of us at home.

During this Veterans Day, commemorate our veterans by reading one of the many books in the SCCLD collection that describe the American veteran experience.
