The Woodland Branch Tweens Read Book Club had its first meeting last week! Not only did we talk about the book (The London Eye Mystery) but we also performed a Name Juggle, did a Bristish to American English word match, and snacked on salt and vinegar crisps (potato chips) along with other goodies. We also passed out the book for next month, The Case of the Missing Marquess by Nancy Springer.
If you are a tween in grades 4 through 6 and would like to join us for the next meeting (Thurs., Oct. 18 from 4 to 4:45 pm), please stop by the Woodland Reference Desk to register and receive your copy of The Case of the Missing Marquess, An Enola Holmes Mystery. While we won't always be reading mysteries, this one ties in nicely with the book from our last meeting. It is the first in a new series featuring Enola Holmes, the much younger sister of the famous detective Sherlock Holmes. The book begins with Enola's mother going missing; when her brothers arrive to investigate they decide to send Enola to boarding school. She has other plans. She escapes, much the same way that her mother did, and sets out for London to try to track her mother down. On the way, Enola stumbles upon a mystery, a mystery that Scotland Yard cannot solve. Perhaps she can? Perhaps YOU can?
