Trails and Tarantulas

If you have done any hiking lately you might have noticed you are sharing the trails with some huge, hairy eight legged creatures. It is common to see tarantulas in the fall when the males wander in search of females. Tarantulas are not highly venomous and not aggresive towards humans, but they do bite! So look, don't touch!

 Did you know?

  • Tarantulas are most active after a rainfall.
  • Tarantulas are carnivores and will eat anything smaller than themselves.
  • Male tarantulas can live for several years, but females live for several decades!
