October signals the beginning of pumpkin season. And you don't have to travel far to find fun, pumpkin-related outdoor activities.
Check out these free, family-friendly pumpkin events:
Pumpkins in the Park - Sat, Oct 12, 2013 at Discovery Meadow. Activities planned include costume parades, a kid-sized straw maze, a scarecrow contest, all with live music. See their website, guadalupeconservancy.org, for more information and other fall events.
Santa Clara County Parks Department events:
Day on the Bay - Sun, Oct 13, 2013 at Alviso Marina County Park. Informational fair where people can meet non-profit, government, and community-based organizations to learn about their services. Free food will be provided, along with free pumpkins for the kids (while supplies last).
Halloween Hike - Sat, Oct 19, 2013 at Coyote Lake-Harvey Bear Ranch. Come dressed in costume, learn about some of the creepy crawlies that live in the park, and hear a few, family-friendly ghost stories. Registration required.
Creepy Campground Trail Exploration - Sat, Oct 26, 2013 at Coyote Lake-Harvey Bear Ranch. Discover how Halloween got its name and what spooky creatures are found in the park.
Halloween Haunt - Sun, Oct 27, 2013 at Ed Levin County Park. Join park staff for a night of spooky family fun.
