California Apricots California Apricots

Are you inundated with apricots? My six year old Blenheim Apricot tree is producing bushels and bushels. It tastes, some say, like manna from heaven and our climate makes the Santa Clara Valley one of the best place in the world to grow this beautiful, fragile fruit.  Local author and journalist Robin Chapman’s book, California Apricots: the Lost Orchards of Silicon Valley, recalls the time when the Santa Clara Valley was the largest apricot producer in the world. She follows the history of local agriculture from the 18th century Spaniards to post-WWII Silicon Valley suburbs.  Join the author at the Saratoga Library on Tuesday, August 13 at 2 PM to learn more about this local treasure.
