library of congress sealOn September 22 and September 23 the Library of Congress will hold their annual National Book Festival on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. Did you know President Obama and Michelle Obama have been honorary co-chairs for this event since 2008?National Mall

 What is the National Book Festival?

It is an annual event hosted by the Library of Congress that has been going on since 2001.  The very first festival was hosted by First Lady Laura Bush, who was both a teacher and a librarian.

What if I can't go to Washington D.C.?

No need to worry. You can listen to one of the many podcasts featuring the authors who will be at this year's festival. You can even listen to podcasts from Jeff Kinney (author of Diary of the Wimpy Kid series) or R.L. Stine (author of Goosebumps)!

Who will be there?

There will be so many great authors there that you won't know where to start. The list includes Avi, Mary Pope Osborne, Patricia Polacco, R.L. Stine, Jeff Kinney, Bob Shea and many many more. The authors will be making presentatons, reading books, and signing autographs!
