Making Homemade Pet Treats

Posted on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 by Pets_and_Animals

Making your own homemade pet treats is a healthy alternative for your furry friend and a fun activity you can enjoy with your children. My dog’s favorite recipe has just three simple ingredients; low fat milk, natural peanut butter, and rolled oats. They go absolutely bonkers for these cookies!

What you need:

1/2 cup low fat milk

1 cup natural peanut butter

3 cups rolled oats

First you combine the milk and peanut butter into a large bowl and then add the oats a 1/2 cup at a time. I recommend using your hands to knead the mixture since its going to be very thick. You may roll the mixture out on a piece of parchment paper and use a dog biscuit cookie cutter to cut out shapes, or scoop out the mixture with a cookie dough scooper and roll into small balls. You then place your cookies on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper and refrigerate for at least an hour so the cookies can harden. Enjoy!

And for a tasty, frozen treat for both cats and dogs, mix a can of tuna with light, plain yogurt and freeze in an ice cube tray. Your pet will love it on a hot summer day!
