This summer, National Public Radio ran a Best-Ever Teen Fiction poll. Unsurprisingly, they had a tremendous response with 75,220 people responding with their favorite titles. The panelists narrowed down the list and NPR audience voted for their top one hundred titles. The number one favorite on the list is the Harry Potter series. Did your favorite make it to the list?

More surprising is the controversy that has arisen about the list. It is the “whitest ever” popular vote booklist released by NPR. Only two titles in the top hundred contain obvious protagonists of color. Read more about it in the NRP Ombudsman blog.

The SCCLD Teen Librarians recently updated several lists, including the Teens Read: Multicultural Fiction list. Take a look and let us know what your pick is for favorite multicultural teen fiction title.
