A British police procedural with a supernatural twist

Posted on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 by ThatLibraryLady

London Probationary Constable Peter Grant is new on the job. Instead of an assignment with the prestigious murder squad, he gets assigned to the Case Progression Unit and a desk job. Then he runs into a witness to murder who happens to be a ghost.  This brings him to the attention of Chief Investigator Thomas Nightingale, the last registered wizard in Britain, who takes him on as an apprentice and member of a special branch of the Metropolitan Police- so special that they are the only two members. Now Constable Grant must learn how to police the magical while exploring a science he never imagined was real.

Full of wry humor, taut pacing and scary bad guys, Midnight Riot will appeal to fans of Jim Butcher and adventurous mystery lovers.
