Teen Tech Symposium at Cupertino Library- Fall 2013 edition

The semi-annual Technology Symposium was hosted by teens from Monta Vista High School. Monta Vista’s Technology Student Association (MVTSA) has made it their purpose to inspire, educate, and make technology more accessible to the general public. This fall 2013 edition welcomed four speakers, and one special robot guest to the Cupertino Library.

From the FBI’s Cyber Squad in San Francisco, Mr. Laudie spoke about internet security, cyber threats, and online safety. Mr. Laudie's talk also included what the FBI does to protect us and our country.

The Director of Clinical Affairs and experience in Class III and Class II medical devices, Ms. Mehendale talked about the technical and research aspects of the robotic assisted da Vinci surgical systems, including approval and clearance of medical technologies.

Founding engineer of social networks brand management startup Involver and Oracle, Mr. Ansari shared lessons learnt as an engineer and entrepreneur. Mr. Ansari is an entertaining motivational speaker, teacher and DJ in New York who discussed career building and decision making skills.

Founder and CEO of Unbounded Robotics, Ms. Wise’s company recently launched a next-gen autonomous personal robot UBR-1 that performs human-like tasks. She demonstrated the use of the personal robot and answered many curious questions from the audience.

The Technology Symposium concluded its program with a raffle of gift donations from the Cupertino Library. Be sure to join us for the next MVTSA Technology Symposium in spring 2014.
