Get Your Inner Squirrel On

Feeling a bit frisky today? Can't remember where you hid that last nut? Have an uncontrollabe urge to run around like a crazy thing in the middle of the street?

Well then, it must be because you just can't wait to celebrate Squirrel Appreciaton Day! Today, January 21st, is the day to celebrate our furry and frantic friends. Set out a special treat for them as natural food sources are especially scarce at this time of year.

While some may just see them as pests, we do have a lot to thank squirrels for. For one thing, they are one of the most important factors in the reforestation of hardwood forests. And of course, they are pretty darn cute!

So give a squirrel a break and a treat today. And while you're at it, check out these books showing us how to appreciate and peacefully co-exist with all the other creatures who were here trying to scratch out a living long before we were. And be careful crossing the street!
