Mark’s mom asked him: “What did you do at the library today?” “Oh! Putting books on the shelf in alphabetical order, cutting paper and eating a banana…” Mark answered. Mom was surprised, “You ate a banana and that counted as volunteer work? “Yeh! The Children’s Librarian needed a banana peel for her puppet show. So she told me to eat a banana.” Well, what are other jobs for teens to do when they volunteer at the library? Boxing the discarded materials; prepare craft materials for children’s program; playing board games at Family Games Night; and sometimes, they get the chance to meet the mayor of the City of Los Altos .
