Posted on Monday, September 24, 2012 by LosAltos_Library

Banned Books Week ~ September 30 to October 6th 2012, is an annual event that celebrates the freedom to read. This year marks its 30th anniversary. Libraries and those who use libraries share the value of free and open access to information of fiction and non-fiction books and materials.

Banned Books Week focuses efforts across the country in preventing the removal or restriction of access to books and draws national attention to the harms of censorship. Come to the Los Altos Library and check out book displays in the adult and children's areas and find out if or why your favorite book was challenged or banned. Did you know The Lorax by Dr. Seuss was challenged?
